Police investigating Bright’s Grove thefts involving stolen pickup

The Sarnia Police Service says officers are actively investigating a rash of thefts in the Bright’s Grove area involving a stolen truck.

“On February 27, 2024 the Sarnia Police Service investigated a stolen vehicle complaint from Ortec Environmental Services on Scott Road,” police said in a news release. “A 2012 white GMC pickup truck was stolen from their property with company decals affixed to the side. At some point, these decals were spray-painted over.”

“On March 7, 2024, individuals using this stolen vehicle committed a spree of break and enters throughout Bright’s Grove,” police added, pointing to a number of stolen items including a generator, motorcycle, construction tools and a wheel (see photos). 

The stolen vehicle has now been recovered but the thefts in the Bright’s Grove area remain under investigation. The affected Bright’s Grove streets identified in this investigation thus far include: Stoneridge Drive, Kenwick Drive and Old Lakeshore Road (at Marion Avenue).

“The SPS is working to identify the owners of these received stolen items as well as ascertain if any other victim exist who have not reported their matter to police,” Sarnia police added.

Area residents are asked to check their security systems and vehicle dash cams for any sightings of the stolen vehicle or potential suspects, during the evening of March 6 and early morning of March 7.

In addition, property owners are asked to check their property and specifically outbuildings in order to identify any additional crimes linked to this occurrence.
