A 43-year-old Port Lambton man faces several charges after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 401, Friday night.
Elgin County OPP say police received a ‘good samaritan’ call to report a suspected impaired driver.
“While the Good Samaritan was providing information to the OPP, the vehicle, subject of the complaint left the roadway resulting in a single [motor vehicle] collision,” a news release noted.
An officer with the Elgin County OPP located the vehicle off the roadway, on the westbound 401 in Chatham-Kent, around 10:15 p.m.
The driver was the lone occupant and was uninjured.
He faces several charges, including impaired driving (alcohol and drugs); failure to properly wear a seat belt; driving without insurance, permit, and failure to notify change of address – license.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was implemented. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham at a later date.
“The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the Good Samaritan who contacted police and reported this incident,” OPP added. “As a direct result, officers were able to safely locate the vehicle and take the driver into custody.”
