The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued first-quarter payments to the City of Sarnia and the Village of Point Edward for hosting local casino operations between April 1 and June 30, 2025.

Point Edward received $424,806 for hosting Starlight Casino, bringing its total share of OLG gaming revenue to more than $54.3 million since the site opened in April 2000.

Sarnia received $103,697 for hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia, bringing the city's total to more than $28.1 million since the site began operations in May 1999.

These quarterly payments are calculated using a formula outlined in the Municipality Contribution Agreement, applied consistently across all land-based casino sites in Ontario. The formula uses a graduated scale based on casino revenue.

“OLG is a strong partner that provides substantial benefits to our community,” said Sarnia–Lambton MPP Bob Bailey, who noted that revenue from both casinos helps support public services and creates local jobs.

Since 1994, host communities across Ontario have received nearly $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue. According to OLG, 100 per cent of its profits are reinvested back into the province, supporting priorities like healthcare, local infrastructure, and community programs.
