Sarnia and Point Edward receive fourth-quarter gaming revenue payments

The municipalities received a combined $493,793 from OLG for hosting local gaming sites between January and March.

Sarnia and Point Edward have received a combined $493,793 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting local casinos during the final quarter of the 2024–2025 fiscal year.

The Village of Point Edward received $401,537 for the period of January 1 to March 31, 2025, for hosting Starlight Casino. That brings the village’s total for the fiscal year to $1.72 million. Since the site opened in April 2000, Point Edward has received $53.9 million in hosting payments.

Sarnia received $92,256 in the same quarter for hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia. Its total for the fiscal year amounts to $392,839, and the city has received $28 million in total payments since May 1999.

These quarterly payments are based on a formula applied across all gaming sites in Ontario, using a graduated scale tied to casino revenue.

“Gateway Casinos Sarnia strengthens our community through sharing gaming revenue that supports local priorities and programs,” said Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey. He offered a similar statement regarding Point Edward, noting the economic benefits of its hosting agreement with OLG.
