Sarnia Christian School will introduce Grade 9 classes this fall as the first stage of its planned high school program.
The school had previously intended to begin offering secondary programming earlier but postponed the launch after recruitment began late in the academic year. By the time information sessions were held in the spring, many families had already finalized high school plans. School administrators chose to delay implementation rather than proceed with limited enrolment.
Over the past three years, the school has worked to develop its secondary curriculum in alignment with Ontario education standards, while incorporating religious instruction. Administrators have also consulted with other Christian schools that have recently established high school programs.
Interest in the program has been based on feedback collected from families through surveys and consultations conducted in recent years. Several students have indicated interest in enrolling, and the school expects additional registrations ahead of the fall term.
The program will follow provincial curriculum requirements and include project-based and student-directed learning approaches.
The school plans to expand the program gradually by adding one grade each year until a full Grade 9 to Grade 12 program is in place.
Classes will be held at the secondary campus located at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, adjacent to the school’s Exmouth Street facility.
Planning for secondary programming began in 2022, when the school conducted town hall meetings and parent surveys to assess interest. The school has previously stated that its high school program will focus on faith-based instruction, personalized learning, and community involvement.
An open house will be held on March 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church campus.
