The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is offering ten grants of $4,000 to help local small businesses fund growth projects and strengthen their long-term sustainability.

Small business owners in Sarnia-Lambton have a new opportunity to secure funding as the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) launches a targeted grant program to bolster the local economy.
The Sarnia-Lambton Small Business Support Grant will provide ten local businesses with up to $4,000 each to help overcome operational hurdles or fund growth projects. The initiative arrives as a response to the ongoing pressures faced by the independent shops, trades, and services that form the backbone of the community.
"Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy," said Matthew Slotwinski, CEO of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership. "They create jobs, support families, and bring energy to our communities."
Slotwinski noted that the funding is intended to help owners take the next step in strengthening their operations for long-term sustainability.
The program is open to a wide variety of sectors, including retail, hospitality, professional services, and the trades. To be eligible, a business must be registered, operating full-time, and have been established in Lambton County for at least one year.
In a move to remain inclusive of the region's changing demographics, SLEP confirmed that business owners do not need to be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Newcomers with valid work authorization are encouraged to apply, provided their business meets the other criteria.
Applicants are required to outline a specific project or improvement and explain how the $4,000 investment will enhance their services or support long-term goals within the community.
The application window opened March 2, 2026, and will close on April 10, 2026. While not mandatory, SLEP is encouraging business owners to book a consultation before submitting their paperwork.
Interested entrepreneurs can reach out to Chantelle Core at [email protected] or call 519-332-1820 to discuss their proposals. Full details and the application form are available on the SLEP website.
