The Sarnia Police Service Board has extended the employment contract of Chief Derek Davis to 2032.

Davis has served as chief of police since May 2022. Prior to joining the Sarnia Police Service, he held policing and public safety roles in Halton, ON, and worked in the private sector in public safety analytics.

The board also extended the contracts of Deputy Chief Ron Hansen and Deputy Chief Michael Van Sickle. Hansen’s contract has been extended to the end of 2029. Van Sickle’s contract has been extended to 2034.

Hansen joined the Sarnia Police Service in 2024 and oversees criminal investigations. Van Sickle has spent his career with the Sarnia Police Service and is responsible for operational areas including records, communications and specialized units.

The contract extensions were announced by the Sarnia Police Service Board on February 27, 2026.
