An official swearing in ceremony was held for the new St. Clair Township council during a special meeting held Monday.
Mayor Jeff Agar was presented with the Gavel of Office by CAO John Rodey, while council members — Pat Brown, Holly Foster, Bill Myers, Brad Langstaff, and Cathy Langis — recited their oaths of elected office.
Deputy Mayor Steve Miller was acclaimed.
Agar, a former three-term councillor who ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2018 — earned just over 50% of the votes in October’s municipal election, edging out two-term Ward 1 councillor Tracy Kingston (44.43%) and newcomer Chad Shymko (5.32%).
Steve Arnold, who had held the seat since 2006, announced earlier this year he wouldn’t seek re-election, after a 37 career in politics.
The new council meets again for its regular council meeting Dec. 5.
