A statewide tornado drill happening in Michigan Wednesday may be heard by local residents, especially those along the St. Clair River, said Tracy Krull.
The communications & engagement coordinator for the Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (BASES) said sirens in St. Clair County, Michigan will sound at 1 p.m. for three minutes, as part of a test of the state’s warning network.
“Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 19 – 25 and the focus is education on severe weather safety and preparedness,” noted a news release from the St. Clair County Office of Homeland Security. “In the event of severe weather, siren activation for a steady three minutes means a tornado warning has been issued for our area; and residents should tune to local media for specific information regarding severe weather and additional instructions.”
