The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Women of Excellence, an annual event recognizing outstanding women in Sarnia-Lambton who contribute to their community and enhance the quality of life for others.

Now in its ninth year, the event will take place on June 5, 2025, at the Dante Club, featuring a luncheon, guest speaker, and celebration of this year’s honourees.

Nominations are open until Friday, April 4, 2025. Forms can be downloaded from the SCF website at www.sarniacommunityfoundation.ca and submitted by email to [email protected]. Those needing assistance can also call the SCF office at 519-332-2588.

“This year’s event committee includes past Women of Excellence recipients, and the collaboration has been full of energy and enthusiasm,” said Mike Barron, Executive Director of SCF. “This is going to be a great event!”

The Women of Excellence awards are part of SCF’s broader commitment to supporting women’s initiatives in the community. The Foundation administers several scholarships designed to uplift and empower women, including:

  • Jean MacDougall Fund for Women in Politics, supporting women pursuing political careers
  • Blue Eyes Big Heart Scholarship, assisting women escaping abusive situations who want to continue their education
  • University Women’s Scholarship, helping women achieve post-secondary goals

Since its establishment in 1983, SCF has contributed over $12 million to local organizations and projects. The Foundation works with donors to establish endowment funds, support community programs, and administer scholarships that make a lasting impact.
