Local United Churches have a special guest coming June 10 to help celebrate a major milestone for the United Church of Canada.

Church Moderator, the Right Reverend Gary Paterson, will be a guest speaker at Central United Church that day, exactly 90 years after the inauguration of the nation’s largest Protestant denomination.

The United Church of Canada was created on June 10, 1925 through the union of the Methodists, 70% of the Presbyterians in Canada and the Congregationalists.  Also joining was the small General Council of Union Churches, centered largely in Western Canada.

Among the special events planned are a workshop, historical displays, costumed greeters and a birthday cake.
