Volunteers invited to help clean up Sarnia’s green spaces for Earth Day

Community-wide initiative invites residents to help clean local parks, trails, and green spaces on April 25, 2026.

The City of Sarnia is preparing for Earth Day with the return of its annual Community Parks Clean-Up Day, encouraging residents to take part in a city-wide effort to clear litter from local green spaces.

Registration for the event opens at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 30. Individuals and groups can sign up to clean a park, trail, or other outdoor space of their choosing.

The clean-up will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon, though participants are also welcome to collect litter in the days leading up to the event.

Participants can request clean-up kits, which include items such as bags and gloves. The kits are provided while supplies last through support from NOVA Chemicals, and can be picked up at the Strangway Centre on Friday, April 24.

Last year’s event saw more than 350 people take part across the community.

Following the clean-up, registered participants are invited to attend a barbecue at Germain Park hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours.

The initiative is aimed at helping maintain the city’s parks and outdoor spaces, which are widely used for recreation, sports, and everyday enjoyment.

Registration closes April 10 at 4 p.m. More information and sign-up details are available through the City of Sarnia’s website.
