Organizers of Sarnia’s annual Celebration of Lights are once again seeking a hand from community members to help keep the event aglow.
Volunteers are needed on the following days:
Tuesday, Nov.14, 9 a.m. at Centennial Park — Crane Day. A group of at least ten people are needed to help guide the large displays as the crane sets them in place.
Saturday, Nov. 18 — Community Set Up Day. Around 100 volunteers are needed to help set up displays. Youth are welcome to earn volunteer hours, but must be accompanied by an adult.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, Opening Ceremonies begin at 5 p.m. with a Christmas carol concert on the Agora Stage.
There will also be fireworks, horse-wagon rides, photos with Santa, hot drinks by Blackwater Cafe and more. Registration residential lighting competition will be open.
Organizers say they still need sponsors for a few displays, as well as covering costs for the Opening Ceremonies, in order to keep the event free to the community.
