Former Sarnia Sting player Ryan Hare wanted his students to get in on all the ‘buzz’ in town.

“This is a historic moment for the city, the team and local hockey fans,” said Hare, now the vice principal at Holy Trinity and St. Matthew Catholic schools, where students have been busy creating artwork that’s now covering the walls at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

“We’re excited to do our part, by flooding the players’ dressing room with messages of encouragement and support,” Hare added.

The posters, created by students from across the St. Clair Catholic School Board, include messages like “We believe in you” and “You’ve got this” and are now lining the walls at PASA, where the Sting are set to host the London Knights for Game 3 of the OHL’s Western Conference Finals, Tuesday.

Students had the opportunity to tour the dressing room, Monday.

“Sarnia has some of the best fans in hockey and what these students have done is proof of that,” says Mark Glavin, manager, hockey operations & community programming for the Sting. “There’s no doubt this will be a huge boost to the team … thanks so much to these young fans.”

The Sting are down 2-0 in the series, which marks the franchise’s first-ever conference finals appearance.
