BARNEVELD, Nell

Peacefully surrounded with love and care, at St Joseph’s Hospice, on Monday, April 1, 2024, Nell went to Glory after a long journey. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Barneveld and her daughter Kim Kenney, along with her parents and her sisters and brothers, joining together in God’s Holy place. Born in Utrecht, Holland on December 2, 1936, Nell was the youngest of six children, she immigrated to Canada along with her parents in 1952. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church for her whole life here in Canada. She was married to Bill Barneveld for 65 years before he passed in October 2023. She is survived by her daughter Caroline Pellizzari (John 1995), son Mark Barneveld (Judi), daughter Lynn Kraayenbrink (Dennis), and son-in-law Bart Kenney (Kim 2020). Nell was Oma to Becky Pellizzari, Nick Pellizzari, Christopher Pellizzari, Scott and Stephanie Barneveld, Kyle Barneveld, Derek and Brittany Barneveld, Julie and Wayne Vandemerwe, Kevin and Tascha Kraayenbrink, Bryan and Brittany Kraayenbrink, Jason and Darby Kraayenbrink, Melanie Kraayenbrink and Dylan Robichaud, Sarah and Micah Wallace, Timothy Kraayenbrink, Alie Kraayenbrink, Danielle Kraayenbrink, Cassidy Kenney, Billy Kenney, Jack Kenney and Ariel Macklin, and Great Oma to many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Georgina Vandezande (Hank), Claire Velema (Joe), Art and Liz Vrolyk, Jennie Douma (Don), Corrie (Jim) and John Spelman. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and friends. We as a family want to remember and thank the wonderful care she had by all of the staff and volunteers at St Joseph’s Hospice , Bluewater Health and Vision Rest Home. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Exmouth St., Sarnia, on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
