Peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. Alberta Berkers (nee Donkers), formerly of Camlachie, was in her 94th year. She was the loving wife to the late Jack Berkers (2009). She will be missed by her children Mary (the late Tony) Huybers of Camlachie, Tom and Ramona Berkers of Brigden, Teresa and David King of Wyoming, and Jim Berkers of Camlachie. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Ryan (Sarah) Huybers, Brandon (Beth) Huybers, Justin Huybers, Tanya (Brett Kelch) Berkers, Courtney (Rob) Nutma, Andrew (Emily) Berkers, Matthew Berkers, Lindsay (Justin) Jackson, Laura (Kevin) Smits, Adam (Amanda) King, Ashley King, and David (Haley) Berkers and her twenty great grandchildren. She will be remembered for always sharing her interests and passions with her grandkids, they all could have had unlimited tennis lessons if they wanted. They have so many memories of strawberry sandwiches and playing at the farm in Camlachie. We can’t count the number of sewing projects she helped us with and we will all treasure our amazing quilts. Alberta is survived by siblings Ted (Dorothy) Donkers, Harry (the late Ann) Donkers, Ricky (Albert) Van Moorsel, and Martin (Mary) Donkers and predeceased by Sister Huberta Maria, Toni (the late Ted) Verwegen, Tony (Mary) Donkers, John (Elizabeth) Donkers, Adrian (the late Ann) Donkers, Piet (the late Hanna) Donkers, Rina (the late Chris) Westelaken, Bill (Joanne) Donkers, and Mary (the late John) Vanderwielen.
Visitors will be received on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wyoming Chapel of Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 650 Broadway St., Wyoming. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Philip Parish, 415 King St., Petrolia. Interment on Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wyoming. As expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundaton (www.terryfox.org) or the Alzheimer Society (www.alzheimer.ca).
