Peacefully, Barry Bird left to be with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Ganigiiwe-Aamjiwnaang, at the age of 83, or 65 if you asked him.

Loving father of Regina, Wenonah “Jackie” and adopted daughter Georgia. Cherished grandfather of Megan and Bradley, and great-grandfather of Maddox and Porter. Treasured brother of Linda Williams. Much loved uncle to “favourite Niece” Sue and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Eleanor, and by his siblings: Arlene, Norma (Carl), Larry (Joanne), Bill (Mary), Josephine (Roy), Irene, Philemon (Jean), Jake (Josephine), and brother-in-law Micky.

Barry was a talented musician who loved to entertain. He was generous with story-telling and would often share his life experiences with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to thank the PSWs for their care and support of Barry during his illness.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Maawn Doosh Gumig, 1972 Virgil Ave., Sarnia, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Aamjiwnaang Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Aamjiwnaang Food Bank (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
