Peacefully, with her son Ryan at her side, July 30, 2025, at Bluewater Health, Karen Bressette passed away at the age of 73. Treasured aunt of Sherry Bressette (Paul Barneveld), Kyle George (Sandy Golder), Taylor Drakes (Sarah Fortune), Curtis George, Harley George Walker, Jil-Leesa George Walker, Lillianna George Walker and Wren George. Predeceased by her siblings Florence (Milton “Bud”) George, Gail (Terrence) Drakes, Carman Bressette, Cherly (Dennis) Evans, and Yvonne “Bonni” (John) Fields. Dear friend of Donna Adams. In 2012, after a lengthy 36 year career, Karen retired as a teacher at the Aamjiwnaang Day Care. At work she fostered long-time friendships with coworkers Muriel Joseph and Tammy Plain and left a lasting impact on the children and students. She really made the old daycare feel like home for many of the children that attended. Despite illness in 2017, Karen underwent open heart surgery. Karen was an animal lover and will be missed by her cherished Boxers Boston and Kingston. Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Aamjiwnaang Cemetery.
