Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Vision Nursing Home, Margaret Anne Brough (nee Ferguson) passed away at the age of 86. Loving wife to James “Jim” L. Brough for 64 years. Mother to David Brough (Rachel), the late Stephen Brough, and Marianne Hope (Jeff). Grandmother to Shane Brough (Sharla) and Nicole Brough, and Aidan and Hannah Hope (Liam) and great-grandmother to Bennett, Skyla, Rylee, Harley and Chevy. She has now gone to be with the Lord and family deceased.

Marg was born in 1939 in Barrie to Harold and Frances (nee Walton) Ferguson. After high school she trained as a nurse at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, graduating in 1959, and worked in Barrie, London, and Sarnia. She transitioned careers and became a real estate agent, serving the Sarnia community for many years. After marrying and starting a family with Jim, Marg was blessed to live in Germany and traveled extensively across Europe. They returned to New Brunswick, where their family was completed, and then settled in Sarnia.

Margaret was very proud of her Irish ancestry, and marrying into the “Brough” name, which is one of the oldest in the British Isles. Margaret enjoyed entertaining friends and family by playing the piano. She also had a great love for animals.

A very special thank you to everyone at Vision Nursing Home, where Marg settled into and thrived due to the relationships she made. She waltzed into Vision cracking jokes, winning hearts left and right and bringing smiles to everyone around her while telling them not to work too hard.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, a private graveside has taken place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barrie, ON. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Bluewater Health Foundation or the Sarnia & District Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.smithfuneralhome.ca
