We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of Jason “Jay” Robert Brown, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, due to complications from a stem cell transplant and graft vs host disease in his fight with MDS and AML.
For a short 54 years, Jay lit up our lives with his strength, kindness, generosity, intelligence and humanity. He was deeply devoted to family and friends and loved life! Jason had a passion for fitness and had an extremely inquisitive mind. He enjoyed meeting new people but was always happiest working alone at his own protective film and finish carpentry business. Jason and Laura lived most of their 35 married years together in the GTA, raising their two sons and building an amazing group of tight knit friends. Although we are devastated by Jay’s passing, we know that his huge shoulders and comforting embrace will help us heal and once again embrace life the way that he did.
Jason is survived by his loving wife Laura (nee Weech), sons Ryan (April) and Andrew, parents Barrie and Nancy, mother-in-law Bette Weech, sister Lisa (Tim), sister-in-law Janet Pyke (Reagan), brother-in-law Glenn Weech. Surrounded by the love of many aunts, uncles, niece, and nephews, Jay shared a particularly close bond with Uncle Ric and Aunt Deb Brown, who were deeply involved in his life from birth.
Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home – London Line Chapel, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, Ontario.
Immediately following the visitation at the funeral home, a celebration of Jay’s life at Paddy Flaherty’s Pub, 130 Seaway Rd., Sarnia, Ontario.
If you wish to honor Jay’s memory, the family would deeply appreciate a donation to the exceptional care and research at Princess Margaret Hospital (cheques only at the funeral home please).
