Margaret Cannon (nee Roche) passed away on April 8, 2025 at Bluewater Health-Sarnia at the age of 94.
Mother of Joe, Kevin (Pat Drimmie), Larry (Tina) and Norma (Steve King). Grammy to Neil (Mandy), Lesley (Pat), Maureen (Dave), Spencer (Katie), Nolan (Amanda), Sage, Dorian (Lindsay), Marcel, Jonah, Adam, Jonathan (Ashleigh) and Rebecca. Great grandmother to Luke, Henry, Finn, Poppy Jo and Addison. Survived by her brother Adelbert Roche (Bernadette), sister Anita Daley and sisters-in-law Helen Sherry and Hilda Cannon. Predeceased by her husband Wilfred Cannon (2015), son Mark (2000), six brothers and four sisters.
Margaret was competitive and loved to win card games, know the answers on Jeopardy and do crosswords. She made every cent count and was proud of her frugal ways. She taught us to love reading, how to save money and to love games. We are grateful to her for creating the bond we call “sibling solidarity” that helped us care for her the last ten years. She was proud to be from Prince Edward Island and “God’s Country” was always her home. She will be happy PEI will be her final resting place, and she will be “together forever” with our dad.
Special thanks to Colleen, Marilyn, Rose, Lee and Mandy and other support from Vision Nursing Home. Your care made Mom comfortable and content. We are very grateful for the quality care Mom received the last few weeks while she was in the hospital. A Private Ceremony has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the summer in Sarnia and Margaret will be interred at her birthplace Iona, PEI at a later date.
