It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kyle Connolly at the age of 50, after a courageous fight to cancer.

Kyle was the type of guy who could spark up a conversation with anyone – if you knew him you loved him.  He was always the life of the party and at the end of the night, you could find him up on the tabletop, dancing and singing “John Pardi – Night shift” till the party was over. And because he has the gift of gab, the term “pineapple” was coined – if you know you know.

Kyle was a proud 30+ year member of the Carpenters Union Local 1256. He will be missed many of his carpenter brothers and especially by his best work buddy Andy Harvey. Kyle was known to work a lot of overtime which might have been needed to fund his Under Armour and Hat obsession. He liked to purchase and stockpile many items and got the nick name “Coupon Kyle” for all of the deals he would get.

Outside of shopping, he was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan.  Kyle loved to play baseball with the Wood Ducks, golf with his buddies and just overall have a great time with his friends. Kyle will be missed by many, many friends, notably his best buddy Rick Butler, especially on their Extended Family Annual Vacations South and Summer Cottaging at Oxtongue Lake.

However, no one will miss Kyle more than his partner, Jodi Scarrow. It was evident the love that Kyle had for Jodi, everyone could see it. They first met and dated in high school, reconnected later in life and now have been together for 17 years, and fun fact: they share the same birthday. Kyle will forever be in Jodi’s heart and he will be forever watching over his “Peach”.

Kyle has 4 children who he loved, Josh, Randi-Lee, Baylie, and Bryar and 3 stepchildren Jacob (Payt), Jaret (Brittany) and Jaymie who loved and will miss him dearly.

Kyle has a brother Craig (Marika) Connolly, children Brianna and Sebastien, niece Holly (Aaron) Huggett, children Jesse and Cohen, his Grandma Myrtle Austin and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kyle was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Beverley Charles and Marlene Connolly, his mother and stepfather Beverley Ann and Gary Spencer, and sister Melody Durley.

Jodi would like to send out some very special thank yous:

Dr. Orla MacSweeney – Thank You for the way that you supported Kyle as it made such a difficult time just a little bit easier for both of us. Your genuine kindness, calming demeanour and patience in explaining everything will never be forgotten.

To all of the nurses at BWH – Kyle’s first stint in the hospital was 45 days and I think he knew everyone’s names, he had all of your shifts figured out and was definitely in the loop on all the nurse’s tales. You all made an impactful difference to Kyle and all of his visitors – which you will probably experience a substantial drop in BWH visitor traffic without your most popular patient. Thank you for all of your hard work.

To our friends that we call family – you know who you all are. You have stuck by our sides through this horrible journey without hesitation and endless support. Kyle loved all of you and we couldn’t have gotten through this without you – I am so grateful to each and every one of you.

Lastly, thank you to everyone involved in the fundraising benefit, card draws, raffles, donations, messages and calls – we have appreciated all of your support more than I can express in words.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Kyles’ life will be announced at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health – Palliative Care (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
