Mrs. Gertrude Jean Coveny, a resident of Dover Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Born 87 years ago in Wallaceburg, to the late Herman and Cora (Vincent) Emery.
Beloved wife of the late John Coveny (2015).
Loving mother of Kerry and Greg Stone, Diane and Brad Blackburn, Tim Coveny (Deb Vancoillie), Christine and Wally Romansky and Patti and Brad Armstrong.
She will be lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dear sister of Patricia DeWolf (the late Maurice), the late John Emery (Colleen). Sister-in-law of the late Patricia Foster (the late Tom), Jackie Guertin (Ken), the late Paul Coveny, Mary Catherine Aarssen (the late Ron), Margaret Ann Luciuk, Maureen, Davis (Bill), Claire Cadotte (Ken), Carmen Myers (Tony) and the late Marian Coveny (Deb).
Predeceased by her grandson Michael Blackburn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gert worked at British Leaf Tobacco for many years but mostly enjoyed helping John on the farm in Dover Centre. She enjoyed travelling with her daughters and Pat but her main passion with being surrounded by her family.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Emergency Department at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the Acute Stroke Unit at University Hospital in London. Special thank you to Dr. Wolting as well as the staff and volunteers at the Chatham-Kent Hospice for their amazing care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00p.m. with a Funeral Service to be celebrated at 3:00p.m.from the chapel of the funeral home
A private family interment will follow in Owen Cemetery, Dover Township, Ontario.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
