It is with broken hearts that the family of Mitchell Cannon Damchuk announces his sudden passing on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the age of 25.
Adored fiancé of Kylie Fader. Cherished son of Joanne (née Van Rooyen) and David Damchuk, and Lynn Fader. Treasured brother of Drake Damchuk (Courtney), Jaymie Fader (Billy) and Jeremy Fader. Beloved grandson of Jack and Andrea Van Rooyen and Kay and Harley Hudec. Loving nephew of Julie and Jim Mizener, Sandra Doupe, Bill Van Rooyen, Michael and Sharon Damchuk, Anne Brown, Paul and Val Damchuk, Sue and Kevin Ritchie, Laurie and Chris Wilcocks, and Steve and Lisa McShea. Mitch will be deeply missed by many cousins, friends, co-workers, and his dogs Ella and Bear. He will be welcomed into Heaven by his grandparents Everet and Betty Damchuk, his beloved dog Tipsy, as well as many great-grandparents, great-aunts, and great-uncles.
Mitch graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, and St. Clair College with a degree in Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training. He was a dedicated football player at both schools, playing for the St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish and the Windsor AKO Fratmen. After graduation, Mitch became a member of the Sentry Fire rescue team and a site supervisor at Nova Chemicals, where he will be remembered as a dedicated worker and leader who put the safety of others above all else. He was very social and was always up for anything, telling a story to anyone who would listen. Mitch was a provider, and looked after everyone he considered to be a part of his “tribe”, especially his fiancée, family and dogs.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Mitch’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with words of tribute to be held at 4:30 p.m.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sarnia and District Humane Society or Victim Services of Sarnia-Lambton (cheques only at the funeral home please).
