It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Raelene “Rae” Elizabeth Duckworth on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She is survived by her wife Katelyn Hill as well as two beautiful children Piper and Oak.
Rae also leaves behind her parents Derek and Cheryl Duckworth, siblings Cassandra (Matt) Duckworth-Robb and Rochelle (Adam) Dickenson, in laws David and Joan Hill, Jackie (Brent) Belanger, Jordan (Lindsay) Hill and Elyse Hill, nephews Holden, Avery, Hunter and Greyson and nieces Charlotte, Blythe, Madeline and Gretchen as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Rae was predeceased by her grandparents Ron and Sheila Duckworth and Earnest and Elizabeth Ross.
Rae was born on April 5, 1982 in Newmarket, Ontario. Rae was a ray of sunshine, energetic, had a contagious smile and witty sense of humor. She was loved by everyone who knew her and came in contact with her throughout her years. Rae found joy and camaraderie in her work as a server at East Side Mario's. Her warm smile and welcoming personality made her a beloved figure among both regulars and coworkers. In this profession she served up drinks for most of Sarnia, and it is also where she found her love and life partner Katie. Not only did she serve drinks, she also served parcels for Purolator. She went above and beyond at her job and cared for her customers. She adored all of her beloved animals and had a passion for baseball. There will forever be a void in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, friends who may wish, may send donations to Katie Hill in support of their children Piper and Oak’s education fund (cheques made payable to Katie Hill).
