Give me the fallow ground, a tractor, and a plow. I will be happy, my Lord. I will be happy. With heavy hearts, we announce that on our beloved, resilient, and generous husband and father Allan Ellwood, now rests in eternal peace at the age of 84. Born at the family home in Mandaumin, near Sarnia, Allan was an active member of his community and congregation of the Mandaumin United Church. After retiring from Imperial Oil with 40 years of service, Allan took great joy in pursuing his favourite hobbies of restoring antique tractors and plowing competitively around the province. Along with building lasting friendships, following these passions led him to become President of the Lambton County Plowmen’s Association and the President of the David Brown Tractor Club of Canada. Allan, a skilled and self-taught craftsman first developed his mechanical proficiency for building as a longtime member of the Bluewater RCA Flyers. He is survived by his loving wife Lois (nee Knudsen) Ellwood; children Debbie Ellwood-Latif (Matthew Latif), Randal Ellwood (Linda De Acetis), Kim Wilkins (Ellwood), (Tom Wilkins); grandchildren Rachel Latif (Jackson Zhang), Alyssa Latif (Jeremy Pirotta), Taylor Wilkins (Dawson Feenstra), Hailey Wilkins (Jayden Park); siblings Norene Scott (predeceased Richard Scott), Robert Ellwood (Barb Ellwood); sister-in-law Joyce Lambley (Jack Lambley); as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Predeceased by his parents Cameron and Margaret Ellwood. We want to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Bluewater Health, Sarnia for their care and compassion.
