Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Sunday, August 10th, 2025, at Bluewater Health, Bruce Frederick Ferns, passed away at the age of 94. Beloved husband to the late Marion (Strevel) (2021). Loving father of Carolyn Cooper, Patsy (Rick) Stewart, Gary (Tracy) and Jeff. Cherished grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also survived by nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by grandsons Chad Stewart, Brian Ferns, Trevor Cooper and son-in-law Ed Cooper. Bruce was the son of deceased John and Mary Ferns, sisters Jean-Anne (Gilbert) Fuller and Margaret (Al) Beckett.
Bruce retired as a Foreman (Butyl) in 1991 from Polysar Ltd. He enjoyed his retirement years along with his wife wintering in Destin, Florida, his summers at The Homestead in Bayfield along with golfing, bowling, casino trips, and playing cards with friends.
For the past 7 years dad resided at The Village on the St. Clair where he was an active member at the home and well cared for by the wonderful staff there. Special appreciation towards staff members Evelyn, Anastasia, Lindsey, Kathy and resident Barb and others for their friendship.
A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health (cheques only at the funeral home please).
