On Saturday, April 20, 2024, of Sarnia, Paul Francis Gillis passed away at the age of 58. Loving father of Robyn Leystra (Christopher), Avery Gillis (Jacob), and Amelia Fraser (Kyle). Proud grandfather of Aiden, Evan, Cole, Lyla, Ryerson, Christopher, Sophia, and Jack. Predeceased by his parents, Michael Francis Gillis, Paula LaRose Lambert, and James Lorne Lambert. Former husband and long-time friend to Holly Ransom. Remembered by siblings David Lambert and Robin Disper (Mike). Loved fondly by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul was born in Quesnel, BC, and spent time as a young boy in Yellowknife before moving to Sarnia where he grew up, often spending his summers playing baseball, bicycling, and fishing. He spent many years as a sales manager at various car dealerships before moving on to flex his true salesman charm at Reliance Home Comfort. Paul often worked on commission but it was never a problem – between his natural kindness and warmth, and how effortlessly he could pull off the classic dad khaki pants and cell phone belt clip combo, he was great with people and quick to win over many. Paul was a proud Guelph Gryphon, a lover of any and all types of music (especially The Boss), and was known for his sharp wit and sense of humor. No joke was too dark or self-deprecating for him. Above all else, Paul was a proud father and family man. He sacrificed his weekend golf and fishing tournaments to spend every possible moment at home. Whether grilling burgers by the pool or experimenting with new dinner recipes, he was there. Every parent-teacher night, school trip, or even just driving someone to a friend’s house, he was there. Paul took every sentimental and mundane moment and cherished it with all his heart. He was a devoted father. He never missed an opportunity to express his pride and love for his daughters. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Salvation Army (cheques only at the funeral home, please).
Rest peacefully dad, we love you too.
