A Life Well Lived, A Soul Dearly Loved.

At Bluewater Hospital in Sarnia, Ontario, on the early morning of December 23, 2025, at the age of 76, Lise Guérin, the wife of Walter Duberry for 43 years quietly passed away.

Originally from Quebec City, she was the daughter of the late Loretta Racine and the late Henri Guérin. Besides her husband, Walter Duberry, she is survived by: her sisters and brothers of the Guérin family: Pierrette (the late Michel Lemieux), the late Marcelle (the late Roger Villeneuve), Suzanne, Yolande (Claude Saint-Hilaire), Lucette, Gilles, Réal (the late Murielle Miville) and Jean (Diane Royer); her father-in-law, James Duberry (the late Anne Ryan) and her brothers-in-law Leroy and Kenneth. She also leaves behind many relatives and friends.

Liberal as a cloud in her stormy domain

A fierce heart and soul, the Raven reigned.

Born and raised in Quebec City, after her schooling she took off for the west coast of BC, and not speaking a word of English, became a lighthouse keeper and worked for the Fisheries at Sheringham Point along with her first husband. While there, she taught herself English by reading books and actively participated in the construction of their 55-foot sailboat, which she proudly named the "Pas-de-deux," and lived on for a number of years in British Columbia, navigating the rough waters. During her time there, she was always in the company of her beloved dogs.

After separating, she studied acting at Camosun College in Victoria, BC and then from there went to Paris, studying at Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School.

With her creative, bold and determined personality, Lise created her own theatre company, Les Farceurs, and together with Walter who became her lifetime soul mate, they toured across Canada many times over 10 years, performing in countless schools from coast to coast.

Later on, her keen mind and undying curiosity shifted back to her love of dogs, which led to years of research and the final creation of Leba III, the dental product for dogs and cats, which has been sold in Canada and internationally for over 30 years. For her and Walter, this had become their main occupation, a stark contrast to their previous adventures in touring, which encompassed endless travel.

Lise was a proud sailor, a dog trainer, distinguished actress and a brilliant, determined businesswoman who carved out a path of her very own that touched many lives, including people and pets.

She often quoted to Walter before an upcoming tour across the country, saying “Hey, so long as we’re in the car with each other, along with her beloved Rott and our set for the next show in some other town, that’s all we’ll ever need. Nothing else matters, this is home! ‘Ahh yes’, Walter concurred in silence, while speeding down a midnight highway. ‘With her by my side, nothing else mattered… she was my sun, the moon and the stars.'

Forever charging ahead, she was faithfully surrounded by fierce love and her legion of guard dogs that flanked her journey, keeping an unsteady world at arm’s length.

On folded wings now that night has fallen,

In immortal arms she gathers, and nests in my heart…

Forever yours sweet Raven….a stranded mate

The entire family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Bluewater Hospital and their medical staff for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

A private tribute evening to celebrate Lise's life will be held at a later date in Quebec City.

Walter Duberry
