On October 23, 2024, Darryl Johnson Hendrick, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by family at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Beverly Hendrick (Greenbird) and loving father of Arlene, Marcellian, Andrea, Darryl Jr. and the late Michael Greenbird. Darryl was very proud of the 5 generations of his family and cherished all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is now reunited with his parents Alfred and Cinderella Hendrick and will be remembered as a dear brother to Myrna, Larid, Basil, Paul and the late Ivan, Emric and Marcellian. Fondly missed by his many nieces and nephews and extended family. Anyone that knew Darryl, knew of his cockatiel Keeko, who will miss him greatly. Darryl worked his life as an auto mechanic and will be remembered for the love of his 1985 GMC Sierra Pickup Truck. Community visitation will be held at Walpole Island Sports Complex beginning on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 3pm until the time of his funeral service at 1pm on Saturday, October 26. Burial to follow at Highbanks Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231).
