It is with profound sadness that the family of Douglas Kenneth Hicks announces his peaceful passing on December 18, 2025, at Afton Park Place, at the age of 91.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret Hicks (2025) for 70 years. Loving father of George Hicks (Laurie), Karen Hicks, Ken Hicks (Linda), and Lois Hicks. Cherished grandfather of Brienne Hicks and Amanda Lyall (Rob), and proud great-grandfather of Jayla Shaw, John Lyall, and Charlotte Lyall. Predeceased by his daughter Lorraine Hicks and grandson Ryan Hicks.
Douglas will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humour, remarkable mechanical abilities, especially his skill in engine rebuilding and his deep love of bluegrass music. He especially enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Afton Park Place for their compassionate care and support.
Cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
