With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of James William Hill on September 23, 2025, at Bluewater Health, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Heather Hill, devoted father to Chris and Jason (Xena). Cherished Gimpa to Xander and step-Gimpa to Dakota and Rain. Brother-in-law of Joe Varga and Barb Wheelton. Uncle of Graham (Sarah) Hill, Matthew (Ashley) Hill, and Scott (Ann-Marie) Varga. Predeceased by his sister Maureen Varga, brother Bob Hill and by his parents Dr. Maurice and Dr. Margaret Hill.
Jim spent most of his career working for Imperial Oil as the Laboratory Manager. After his career, Jim and Heather held fond memories of their shared travels which included cruising and annual travel to Mexico.
The family would like to thank Dr. Davies, Dr. Kim, and the staff on the 4th floor telemetry unit for their outstanding care and compassion during Jim’s time at Bluewater Health.
Cremation has taken place. A casual gathering for family and friends to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at the Sarnia Riding Club Oct 4, 2025 from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Red Cross or a charity of your choice are appreciated (cheques only at the funeral home). Arrangements are entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
