Surrounded by family at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health after a courageous battle with Cancer, John “Butch” Delescaw Houle passed away at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Colleen (nee George) for nearly 60 years. Ginny (Joe Card) Ellison, Cole (Jenn) Houle, Keith Houle (Tina Primeau). Proud grandpa to Trey Ellison (Allison Bowes), J.D. Ellison (Émile Thiffeault), Kate Ellison (James Vance), Brittany Card, and Jarred Card, Amanda Grant (Wes Ford), Brittany and Gillian Houle. Dear brother to Joan (Guido) VanBoven, Robert (Rita) Garsnell, the late George (Aileen) Houle, the late Marie (the late Albert) Hurst, and the late Edward Houle, Alex “Doc” (Sylvie Roy) Houle, and Steven (Yvonne) Houle, and brother-in-law to Dave (Anne) George. His beloved dog, Jackson, will be absolutely lost without his constant companion. Butch will be lovingly remembered by his extended family and friends.
Butch was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 216 Petrolia, for 39 years and he was a member of Local 663 for 57 years. Vegetables – Flowers – Sunflowers – Gladiolus – Potatoes, you name it he grew it, Butch’s garden has always been the envy of the neighbourhood. He will be missed beyond measure.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip’s Parish, Petrolia with visitors being received at 10:00 a.m.. A private interment in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery – Port Lambton. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 216 in memory of Butch.
