With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Veronica Ignatius, aged 84, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Veronica was a devoted and loving wife, and a spiritual soul mate to her late husband, Christie Ignatius. She lovingly nurtured her children: Selvinie (Chandrarajan), Prakash (Sumathy), Ravi (Fehm), and the late Michelle Johnson (Ken). She was also a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Veronica was the cherished eldest daughter of the late Mary and John Masilamani. She was predeceased by her sister, the late Anne Paulose, and her brothers Ernest Masilamani and Vijay Masilamani. She was deeply loved by her sisters Patricia Ryan and Prabha (Ilango), as well as by all her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Veronica Sarada Ignatius was a kind-hearted, loving soul who dedicated her life to nursing until her retirement. She helped many in their physical and spiritual needs. A gentle lady, she loved to sing and found great joy in gardening.
Veronica will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, faith, wisdom, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home – London Line Chapel, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with prayers taking place at 7:45 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
