In Loving Memory of Irma Anna Martha Illemann.
It is with great sadness that the family of Irma Illemann (née Jacobi) announces her peaceful passing on December 19, 2025, at the age of 101.
Irma was the beloved wife of Heinrich Illemann for 58 years and a devoted mother to Henry and Marleen Illemann, Raymon and Donna Illemann, and Peter and Susan Illemann. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren. Irma will also be fondly remembered by her family in Germany, including her sister Lorchen Ogen, her nephew Harald Jacobi, his wife Ulrike, and their children Niklas and Clara, as well as her nephew Jürgen Jacobi and his wife Andrea. She was predeceased by her husband Heinrich (2006), her son Henry (2021), and her great-grandson Jagory (2025).
Born in Danzig, Germany, on November 13, 1924, Irma met Heinrich in Garmissen, Germany, and they were married on May 14, 1948. Their eldest son, Hans Heinrich (Henry), was born in Germany. The family immigrated to Canada, arriving in Halifax on June 7, 1951. They then moved to Val Senneville, Quebec, where Irma and Heinrich built a home and farmstead to raise their growing family. Raymon and Peter were both born in Quebec. Heinrich worked in Lamaque Mine, Val D’Or, while Irma cared for the household and their children.
In 1963, the family moved to Strathroy, Ontario, where Heinrich worked as a cabinetmaker at Strathroy Furniture. Irma also worked there, assembling stereo components, until her retirement at the age of 65. Together, Irma and Heinrich enjoyed their retirement, traveling and hosting frequent family gatherings at their home. They cherished watching their great-grandchildren grow and spent many happy years surrounded by family.
Irma and Heinrich were devout members of the Strathroy Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and found joy in their faith.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Bear Creek Terrace for their care, support, and compassion during Irma’s final months.
In accordance with Irma’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
