Vicky Irwin (nee Labelle), 92 years, of Petrolia and formerly Oil Springs passed away on Thursday, January 8 at University Hospital in London, Ontario. In 1950, Vicky married to her late husband Wilfred Irwin(1996).
She was the proud mother of Eileen (Peter) Core, the late Michael (1993) (Susan) Irwin, and Bill (Helen) Irwin. She will be missed her grandchildren Matthew (Cheryl) Core, Rebecca (Joel) Devereaux, Rachel Purdy, James (Monique), Joshua (Jennifer), Joel (Carolyn), Jason (Tiffany), Sarah (Scott Williamson), Jonathan, Emily (James) Cox, and Carolyn (Mez Cherfi) Irwin. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Vicky is survived by one sister Simone and was predeceased by brothers Adelard, Wilfrid, Roland, and Marcel, and sisters Yvonne, Laurette, and Claire.
Central to Vicky’s life was family. Her greatest moments of enjoyment were when family gathered at her home, including extended family as well. She was always there when needed and ready and willing to provide help and comfort.
Later in life Vicky explore a range of new experiences including the Oil Springs Rebekahs, the local seniors group, bowling, euchre parties and travelling. After living 62 years in her home in Oil Springs she moved to Petrolia.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia where visitors will be received prior to the service beginning at 11 am. Interment in Oil Springs Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).
