David Allan Johnston of Port Lambton, passed peacefully on April 4, 2025 after a brief illness, surrounded by family at Bluewater Health – Palliative Care.
Beloved husband of Judy Johnston (nee Fraser) for 57 years. Proud father of his "girls" Jody Johnston and Tracy Johnston. His pride and joy was being "Poppy" to his six grandchildren Leigha Gredig (Gareth), Corey Goodacre (Laura), Samantha Harder, Michael Pring, Emma Hay and Sarah Hay. They will all cherish memories of building with Poppy in his shop with proper safety protection, silly Poppy jokes and camping trips. Poppy was very proud to become Great-Grand Poppy to Maxwell Goodacre and was anticipating the arrival of another Baby Goodacre in June 2025.
Dave was the much-loved big brother of Barbara, the late Margaret, Murray, and brother-in-law Robert. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Melanie (Trevor), Rachel, Crystal, Matthew (Monise), and Allison (Josh), one great niece, four great-nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Shirley (nee Isom), sister-in-law Linda and niece Megan.
David will be missed at the Warwick campground by the many friends and family whom he spent treasured time with during the summer months. Dave enjoyed spending time watching Western movies, camping, sharing jokes, and tinkering in his shed with his beloved tools, he would always lend a hand or tool to help anyone out. Dave deeply loved his family and was surrounded by that love he shared with us during his final days. He will be deeply missed.
As per David's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Imperial City Brew House. All are welcome.
