Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 7th, 2025, Mathew Keeley passed away at home, at the age of 72, after a heroic battle with Cancer.
Beloved husband and best friend of Anne for 50 years. Proud father of Jennifer (Matthew) and David (Kelly). Cherished Papa to Edi and Wells. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Jean Roemmele; brother, Peter Keeley (Peg); sister, Christine Frank (Rick); sisters-in-law, Pam Leavitt (Randy) and Joan Ostrom (Shane). Matt will also be missed by his nieces and nephews: Kristy, Shari, Allie, Julie, Greg, Chris, Lindy, Jamie, Jessie and Nicole. Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Roy Keeley; brother, Michael Keeley, sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Larry Whitson; niece, Laura, sister-in-law, Lisa Keeley (Peter); father-in-law, James Burt; and stepfather-in-law, Ed Roemmele.
Matt was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time at his Florida home at the Worthington Golf and Country Club. He was a lifelong sports fan who proudly cheered on the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions and the Michigan Wolverines with unwavering loyalty. Matt loved to travel with his wife Anne, enjoyed music, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Matt’s wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Oncology Department at Bluewater Health and the Palliative Care team and Dr. Evan Lilly. They would like to give special thanks to Bluewater Nurses Laura and Karen and Bayshore Nurses Patti and Alicia.
Cremation has taken place, and a private gathering to celebrate his life will be held with close family and friends.
