Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Jean Lacroix passed away at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Nancy for 59 wonderful years. Loving father of Jean Jr. (Judy) and Jeff. Cherished grandfather of Mathieu (Stephanie), Rachelle and Luc (Hannah). Treasured brother of Roland (Joyce), Richard (Patty) and sister-in-law of Betty (Fred) Williams. Predeceased by his parents Napoleon and Alice, by his sister Claudette, and brothers Jack and Fel. Jean will be deeply missed by his cat Panda. Jean had a very active and adventurous life. Most of the time, he was occupied by the “3 Bs” Bowling, Baseball and Bingo. Jean spent many hours at the bowling ally and was a member of the same bowling league with his son Jean Jr. for over 30 years. In his younger years, baseball was his favourite pastime that extended into his 70’s. He was a well-known pitcher who won several awards. Jean and Nancy would often be found at the bingo hall on most Friday nights enjoying the thrill of the game and fish and chips. Jean and Nancy spent many summers camping together in several different locations and never missed an opportunity to travel with friends. Jean also enjoyed collecting coins. Jean will be missed by extended family, friends and all those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with visitation taking place two hours prior from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A burial of ashes will take place at Resurrection cemetery at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
