It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Claudette Stella Marie Landry (née Desrochers), aged 73. Comforted by her loving family, Claudette passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2024, at Bluewater Health.

Born in Sarnia, ON, on June 19, 1951, Claudette lived a life full of love. She spent many years as a chambermaid at the Drawbridge Inn, where she loved working alongside many family members and dear friends. Claudette left the Drawbridge Inn to start her role as a full-time grandma.

When asked what she was most proud of in her life, Claudette answered, “my family”. She was an adoring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend; she loved deeply and unconditionally. She always thought of others and was incredibly selfless; too often putting the needs of others before her own. She had the most beautiful soul and was loved and appreciated by all those who knew her. Claudette’s infectious smile and sense of humour were second to none.

Claudette deeply loved her devoted husband of 54 years, Lucien, who did everything to help his beloved wife. She was also the most loving mother to her children Johnny (Karri) Landry, Leona Heller, and Danny (Lana) Landry. She relished being grandma to Erica, Cody, Jacob (Ariane), Julien, and Duke, and great-grandma to Aubree, Aaliyah, and Kattleya. She leaves behind her cherished siblings Claude (late Shirley) Desrochers, Paul (Rhonda) Desrochers, Mike (Anne) Desrochers, and Eva (Doug) Fisher. Claudette has gone to rejoin her parents, Jules Desrochers (2005) and Jocelyn (née St. Jean) (2011). She is also predeceased by many dear friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Your departure leaves a big void in our lives. We loved you deeply, and although we will miss you forever, you will live forevermore in our hearts and minds.

“God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, “come to me.”
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.”

Claudette’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate nurses of the ICU and Dr. Michel Haddad who cared for her in her final days. Cremation has taken place and an intimate celebration of life will be held at a later date, as per Claudette’s wishes. Memorial donations may be made to The Inn of The Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please).

We love you.
