It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Laur, at the age of 93, on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Bluewater Health. Beloved husband of the late Connie Laur (2003) and the late Joan Laur (2022), loving father of the late Kenneth Laur, the late Gail Waluchow, Cal (Leigh) Laur, Gerri (Mike) Shymko, and step-father of Paul (Karyn) Paschink and Melinda Paschink. Cherished grandfather of Jenifer (Colin), Michael (Jane), Carrie (Allan), Robert (Erin), the late Christine, Shane (Heather), Jamie, and Michelle, and step-grandfather to DrueAnne, Haleigh, Rebecca and Peter, and of 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Claude and Sadie Laur, his siblings Raymond, Morley, Wilfred, Erma, Les, Viola and Stanley. Jim had spent his career working as a production scheduler for Nova and retired in 1989. He was a long-term member of the Huron Oaks Golf Club and he excelled at the bridge table, both of which provided him with many life-long friendships. After retiring, he spent his winters in the sunny south where he continued his hobbies of golf and bridge. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
