Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on January 6, 2026, at Sumac Lodge, Frances passed away at the age of 97.
She was predeceased by her parents Ivy (Payne) and Arthur Whitnell, and sisters Lily Lindsay, Bette Alexander, and brother John (Jack) Whitnell.
Frances is survived by daughter Julie Lewis (John Visosky) of Stouffville, ON and son Mark Lewis of Mission, BC. She is also survived by her older sister June Bannister of Sarnia, ON. She was a loving grandmother of Natasha and Alexandra and she was a great-grandmother to Scarlett and Calliope, and Marlowe.
Frances Jane Lewis (Whitnell) was born December 29, 1928 in Sarnia.
She was an avid actress in the Sarnia Little Theatre winning a few best actress awards over the years and becoming an Honorary Life Member in 1999.
She spent many years (1960s-1970s) teaching French, English, History and Theatre at S.C.I.T.S.
Cremation has taken place. No services or visitation will be held.
