It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Florence Isobel Mair, at the age of 103, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at CEE Hospital of Bluewater Health in Petrolia. Florence was born in Hamilton, ON, on January 3, 1922, and was the beloved wife of the late Douglas Mair (2002). She leaves behind her devoted sons, Randall (Tisa), Bruce (Celena), and David (Susan), along with her adoring grandchildren: Carla (Marc) Greenwood, Pamela (Sheldon) Brennan, Shauna (John) Eastman, Craig Mair, Kyle Mair, and Kiersten Mair. Florence was also a proud great-grandmother to Emma, Jakob, Nolan, Benjamin, Brayden, and Ava, all of whom brought her immense joy. Florence's life was enriched by the companionship of her support worker, Tara, who became like family, spending the last 2 1⁄2 years together, sharing stories and memories. We are deeply grateful for the love and care Tara provided Florence during this time. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Florence Leedale, and her brothers, Charles (Hilda) Leedale and Albert (Marjorie) Leedale, Florence is also reunited with her in-laws, William and Hazelle Mair, and her sister-in-law, Muriel (Denny) Vines. A longtime and cherished member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, Florence also took great pride in her faith and was a devoted member of Point Edward United Church until its closure in 2012. Florence’s zest for life was contagious, whether she was playing cards, enjoying a game of bingo, baking her famous butter tarts, or cheering on her sons and grandchildren from the stands—she was always the loudest and proudest fan. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at CEE Hospital Petrolia, Fairwinds Lodge, and Landmark Village for their compassionate care and support. Florence’s warmth, wisdom, and love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family burial will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen’s Club, 503 Michigan Ave, Point Edward. All who knew and loved Florence are invited to join the family in remembering and celebrating a life well-lived.
