Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Bluewater Health Leroy Douglas McKay passed away at the age of 88.
Beloved husband of Stella Marie McKay. Dear dad of Brian Douglas McKay and his wife Andrea Schultz. Cherished grandfather of Samantha and Logan McKay and step grandfather of Lucia and Nolan Schultz-Allison. Treasured uncle of Ken Elliott and Andrew Butt.
Leroy was born in Sarnia on April 6, 1936. He retired from Dow Chemical with 37 years as a steamfitter. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church, taking part on several committees.
He was an active member of several Masonic organizations, past master of liberty Lodge 419, past first principal of Wawanosh Chapter #15, past grand principal Sojourner of grand chapter of Ontario and was Director of ceremony for many years, T.I.M. Ribley council #6, past grand Captain guard of Royal Masters of Ontario, member of Mocha Temple London, and the Lambton Shrine Club.
Leroy enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and woodworking.
Cremation has taken place. A private interment has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Bluewater Health Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
