Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Wilmer Dwayne McLinchey passed away at the age of 92. Born June 17, 1933, near Parkhill, ON. Son of Wilmer and Pearl (nee Webb) McLinchey. Predeceased by sister Doris Carrothers, brother-in-law Ron Carrothers and brother Ken McLinchey. Survived by wife Noreen, sister-in-law Donna McLinchey, children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Following graduation from High School he attended London Normal School and University of Western Ontario. He began his teaching career in Petrolia Public School System, Petrolia District High School in Mathematics. He then returned to the Petrolia Public Elementary as a Superintendent. Following the formation of the Lambton County Board, he was principal at Rosedale Public, and later at High Park Public School in Sarnia. Following retirement, he was very active with Sarnia Red Cross Board and was appointed its manager at the time of the building of the new office on East Street. Dwayne was an excellent musician, playing organ and piano, directing choirs in local churches and music festivals. He formed the Georgian Singers for men, a popular entertainment group. Dwayne and Noreen (nee Kells) married in 1957. Children are Janice (Brian Seabrook), Judy Bayley, Jill (Tony Parrott), Jeffrey (Angel Powell). Grandchildren are Andrea (Mike Reinhardt), Nicole Bayley, Phillip (Kay) Parrott, James (Caleigh) Parrott, Taylor (Riley) McLinchey, and Logan (Paige) McLinchey. Great-grandchildren are Allison and Joel Reinhardt, Hayden Try, and Lennon McPhedran. Predeceased by grandson Matthew Seabrook. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home – London Line Chapel, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Red Cross (cheques only at the funeral home please).
