Unexpectedly, surrounded by loving family on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Bluewater Health, Sarah Jane Newstead passed away at the age of 45. Sarah is reunited with her mother Bonnie (2009) and brother Derek (2026). She will be deeply missed by her daughter Victoria Forthuber, granddaughter Venus Forthuber, father Doug Newstead, sister-in-law Melissa Nadon, and nieces Emily Newstead, Desirae Newstead and Fiona Slegers. Also missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Sarah worked for over 20 years at the Waterville TG Inc. in Petrolia, after which she spent her time caring for her treasured granddaughter. She was a devoted and reliable friend and would go above and beyond for those she cared about. Sarah was also a strong and independent person, who stood her ground when needed. Her courage and loyalty will be remembered by all those lucky enough to have met her.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Venus (cheques payable to Doug Newstead, cheques only at the funeral home please).
