It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Jon “Mark” Nicholson on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the age of 65. Beloved husband of Anne Nicholson. Loving father of Stacy (Caleb Harse) Nicholson. Cherished Papa of Isla Summer Kemmis and Axel Alan Harse. Dear brother of Scott (Cathy) Nicholson and brother-in-law of Kim Baker and Julie (Doug) Helps. Survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Joyce Nicholson, brother-in-law Dave Baker, father-in-law John Thornton, and mother-in-law Rita Thornton. Mark loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Lions. Mark’s family had a rivalry amongst one another over the Blue Jays and the Tigers. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If you are attending please wear your favorite sports jersey in memory of Mark. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Canadian Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice, or a charity of choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
