Phyllis passed away peacefully at Afton Park Place on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the age of 95. Dear sister of Marion Gilmer. Predeceased by parents James and Ethyl Pepper, sisters Dorothy Capps, Ida Brown, Neva Barr and Shirley Boyd and by brother Donald Pepper. Also surviving are niece Katherine Boyd and nephew David Boyd as well as other nieces and nephews. Phyllis loved to travel during her 35 years of retirement. She drew inspiration from her travels and became an accomplished painter. After living independently for 93 years, she moved to Afton Park Place where she thrived for the next 2 years. She considered the kind and caring staff to be like family and especially loved Bob the activities director and enjoyed being his sidekick. Her family would like to thank volunteer Moira whose care and compassion made Phyllis’ life better. A graveside service will held at the Merlin Cemetery, Merlin, Ontario on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 2 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home 519-344-3131.
As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Sarnia & District Humane Society, 131 Exmouth St., Sarnia, N7T 7W8. Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com.
