It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Marie Pettigrew announce the passing of our beloved sister on July 29, 2025 at Sarnia, Ontario.
Joan was born in Kincardine, Ontario on November 28, 1953. the daughter of William and Helen Pettigrew. Joan spent her formative years on the family farm at Sinclairs Corners, RR2 Tiverton, Ontario.
Joan's adventurous spirit has led her across the expanse of Canada from the British Columbia coast and Rocky Mountains to Cape Breton Island.
Joan was a small business entrepreneur who operated a convenience store and catering business in Wiarton, Ontario and a motel business in Southampton, Ontario. She has resided on a houseboat anchored in the magnificent coastal island waters of British Columbia, she was employed in the oil fields of Alberta, the mining industry of Northern Ontario and even the restaurant at the top of the CN tower in Toronto (the tallest structure in Canada).
Joan enjoyed music, rock concerts, photography and developed her own black and white photos including a self portrait which the family cherishes.
Joan shared a lifetime of laughter, tears and unforgettable moments with her siblings, Marg Harper, Ruth Moore, Don (Sharon) Pettigrew, Karen (Tom) McNeill, Ken (Rodiena) Pettigrew, Bill (Becky) Pettigrew and Tom (Cheryl) Pettigrew.
Joan was a free spirit, with an infectious good humour and kind heart which will be sadly missed by her friends, siblings and fourteen nephews and nieces. Joan was predeceased by her sister, Marg and brother Don.
In accordance with Joan's wishes there will be no ceremony and a private family gathering will be held.
