Devoted and compassionate grandfather to Morgan, Justin (Chloe), Harmonie, Chase, Joshua, Maddison, Meeghan, Kyle, Jacob, and Campbell. Cherished great-grandfather to Brooklyn, Kaia, Anthany, and a baby boy Porteous on the way.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his siblings Lynn (John) Chandler, Cheryl (Ian) Palangio, Paul (Dorena) Porteous, Kim Porteous, and brother-in-law Calvin (Judy) Prang. He will also be missed by many extended family members and lifelong friends. Predeceased by his parents William Sr. and Delma (Hearn) Porteous, as well as his in-laws Elmer and June (TerMarsch) Prang.

A proud veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Bill served with dedication for over 26 years as a Military Police Officer in the Army. In retirement, he remained active and enthusiastic, embracing entrepreneurship and enjoying his favorite pastimes, including playing and watching baseball, curling, and bowling. He was a loyal Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan. Bill especially loved warm winter trips south with his wife, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and creating countless memories with family and friends. Known for being kind, generous, and caring, he will be dearly missed as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at a later date, during which his ashes will be scattered in his favorite places by the loves of his life.

The Porteous family sincerely thanks the compassionate staff at Bluewater Health, particularly those in the Emergency Department, Surgical, Telemetry, Oncology and Rehab units, along with the Palliative Care Team for their exceptional care during Bill’s final days. They also wish to express heartfelt gratitude for the love and support of family and friends.
